Lex Accelerates Speedy Hire’s Replacement Vehicle Programme
The Lex daily rental team headed up by Ian Drayton were approached by Speedy Hire to identify a solution to a recurring problem; when Speedy Hire’s unique range of vehicles needed replacing due to a mechanical fault or an accident, how could a substitute vehicle with the exact specifications be delivered as quickly as possible?
After analysing the previous three years of data relating to Speedy Hire’s requests for the rental of vehicles to act as replacements for their existing vehicles, the Lex daily rental team were able to identify the most common vehicle requested (Ford Transit Dropside with Tail Lift), duration of hire and the Speedy Hire location in the UK which had the most demand for a substitute vehicle.
A solution was then developed by the Lex daily rental team and SIXT rent a car, the worldwide operating vehicle rental organisation and long standing Lex partner, whereby twenty Ford Transit Dropside with Tail Lift vans were altered to conform to the exact specifications required by Speedy Hire and which would be delivered to the locations with the most demand for replacements by the Lex delivery agent, IXT rent a car.
SIXT rent a car would also be legally responsible for storing and collecting the substitute vehicles, which would retain SIXT rent a car’s livery, identifying them as temporary replacement vehicles.
Commenting on the agreement, Ian Leonard, Fleet Director of Speedy Hire said: “We are delighted to work with the Lex daily rental team and SIXT rent a car to have this substitute vehicle arrangement in place. Not only does it ensure that our fleet is on the road doing business, but from a health and safety perspective we are consistent with our policies, both as a representation of our business and our drivers. We offer a big hand of thanks to Lex for their work in solving this issue.”
Ian Drayton, Daily Rental Operations Manager, Lex comments: “We are very proud of the agreement that we have designed and implemented in conjunction with SIXT rent a car for Speedy Hire to solve their replacement vehicle issues. This is a market first agreement and is a clear indicator that Lex can deliver a replacement vehicle solution for a client who has vehicles with the most detailed specifications – it’s a great success story for Lex and Speedy Hire”
