Lex Talent

About Lex Talent

The Programme

Year One

  • During the first year you will have three to four core placements, based in different business areas. You will be expected to utilise all your operational, technical and intellectual capability to not only carry out the day-to day responsibilities of the placement but also to spot opportunities to improve business performance. [view a description of one of the core placements]

Year Two

  • In the second year you will have up to two specialist placements. These will be, where possible, based in departments where you would like to start your Lex career. You will be expected to apply everything you have learnt in year one to bring value to the department. Then, from month 17, you will start applying for a middle management or a similarly challenging technical specialist role.

The Project

  • In addition to the placements, you will work with your peers to complete a business wide project. The topic for this project will either come from the board or be identified by the Lex Talent group themselves. The recommendations, from the written project report, will be presented at a board meeting. Here you will have the opportunity to convince the business's key decision makers that your proposals should be implemented.

The Support

  • Throughout the programme, you will be fully supported. The Lex Talent Development Manager, who is responsible for managing the programme, will work with you to shape your personal development and career direction. Placement Managers will then manage you throughout your placement, setting your objectives, measuring your performance and supporting your development.
  • You will also have the opportunity to tailor your support to your individual wants and needs through access to a personal mentor and coach. Mentors will be senior managers and coaches will be colleagues working at a similar level.
  • During the programme, networking events will be held to give you an opportunity to meet senior managers from across the business. Managing Director, Jon Walden will personally host a number of lunches where he will meet you and discuss your experiences of the programme.
