UK Businesses go Flexi Friendly

Seven out of ten (69%) managers polled in the national survey said they had taken advantage of their company’s flexible working policy, reporting it has improved their performance at work.
The survey showed that working from home is the most popular type of flex, with over three quarters (76%) of managers regularly swapping their office for their house.  Although a quarter (26%) of employees originally worked from home to help cut their motoring costs, as prices at the pumps fall many have woken up to the additional benefits.
Nearly two thirds (60%) said they are more productive and 55% aren’t wasting time sat in traffic.  Managers also have a better work-life balance from flexible working with nearly half (47%) spending more time at home with their family and 54% are less stressed.

Despite flexible working becoming more common practice, over half (54%) actually view it as a privilege and 22% think it is so good that more of their colleagues should participate.

John Walden, managing director of Lex comments: “With so many managers reporting flexible working makes them more productive, less stressed and able to perform to optimum levels, it’s a win-win situation for employees and company bosses.

“In addition, creating a more fulfilled and positive workforce by helping them to achieve a greater work-life balance and spend fewer hours in congested traffic can only have a positive impact on driving for work, which benefits all road users.”
